Reading up on celebrity gossip has always been a necessary evil in my life. I want to stay on top of things in the industry (hey – we LIVE among them here in LA), but at the same time don’t want to get caught up in the judgments and malicious rumors that come along with the paparazzi chasing down stars and taking those not-so-sexy pictures that soon become infamous to the masses.
With that said…when I heard that Jessica Simpson, after being photographed recently, is being ridiculed all over the tabloids for “not yet losing” her baby weight, I stopped and said WHAT THE HECK?!
Just a few short months ago in April, Simpson gave birth to her daughter Maxwell. She gained a hefty 70 pounds during the pregnancy, which is a little more than normal but the weight loss should be a secondary priority simply because of the fact that she now has a beautiful CHILD to focus her energy on. Shouldn’t that fact alone trump immediate pregnancy weight worries? That’s the reason the extra weight was gained – to support the baby. Therefore, I think taking care of Maxwell should be Simpson’s top priority in life at the moment until things get rolling and she feels more comfortable with the whole baby routine.
Former “Girls Next Door” star and fellow mom-in-the-spotlight Kendra Wilkinson agrees. “That just breaks my heart,” Wilkinson told omg! from Yahoo. “I feel for her. I was in the same boat. People just need to mind their own business. That’s a woman who just gave birth. Her first priority right now is her child. Her first priority is not losing the weight. You should be proud of her for that.”
Both Simpson and Wilkinson, after giving birth, made post-baby endorsement agreements with Weight Watchers to lose the weight and keep it off.
